The Help by Nathaniel Terrell

I crossed the point of no return, years ago

presently, I am not sure where this path leads

I do know that I can’t turn back

I don’t have imposter syndrome,

as much I have overcome

there’s no way I fear success

Lately I have deep suspicions

elevated from concerning to alarming

That as talented as I am

or will become,

I am nothing more than talent

Some days, I accept that notion

other days, not so much

There are times my desire is to help others

lately, I feel like the world can go get fucked

Not by me of course

I am celibate, until I find

a boring compatible woman

that matches my spirit and pleases my eyes

Maybe I’ll find her on a train ride

from coast to coast

The only time I went skydiving

I passed a falcon on my descent

It said, “You’ll be alright once you touch down”

“Disgraced watchers dwell in open waters”

God set the firmament to protect you from….

I couldn’t make out the last part

but I knew I was received a warning

Gravity pulled me back

as the wind boosted the falcon higher

Maybe I was trippin,

but I will never forget that day
